Acura Integra Type S prototype will pace the 24 Hours of Daytona.
. That changes this weekend, with that prototype making its way to the U.S. for its public debut at Saturday's 24 Hours of Daytona.
The car will pace the opening laps of the race, wrapped in a"Type S" camouflage just like the prototype first shown in December. In addition to those pace laps, the Type S prototype will be displayed in the paddock throughout the race weekend. Although we still do not know the exact details of the car's powertrain, numbers quoted during the initial reveal suggest it will share its 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, limited-slip differential, and six-speed manual with the Civic Type R.
Saturday also marks the first-ever race for Acura's ARX-06 GTP racer, an LMDh-spec prototype that replaces the ARX-05 DPi. That car won the 24 Hours of Daytona twice, including with factory partners Meyer Shank Racing last season. MSR went on to win the IMSA championship that season, making it the defending race and season champion heading into this weekend's 24-hour classic.
