Actor Julian Sands has been identified as the hiker who was reported missing last week on Mt. Baldy, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said Wednesday.
Sands, 65, a British actor who now lives in North Hollywood, was reported missing in the Baldy Bowl area around 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, according to Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Mara Rodriguez. Ground crews began searching for the missing person that day but were pulled off the mountain Saturday due to trail conditions and the risk of avalanche, she said.“We will schedule another ground search when the weather improves, and it is safe for our ground crews,” Rodriguez said. “It is our recommendation that people stay away from that area. It is extremely dangerous and even experienced hikers are getting in trouble.
