ABC 33/40 anchor Pam Huff urges viewers to get a yearly mammogram while announcing she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
“I really do feel blessed because my doctors caught it early and it has not spread into my lymph nodes,” Huff said.
The news anchor, who said she has gotten annual mammograms since she was 35 years old, is scheduled to undergo chemotherapy in August followed by a lumpectomy, possibly in January. Huff, who is in her 60s, said she partly chose to share the news to give viewers a heads-up that she needs to get a wig in preparation for chemotherapy.
“My friends here at the anchor desk have all agreed to go with me to pick that out. Something tells me before this is all said and done that James might try on one as well,” she joked, referring to ABC 33/40 meteorologist James Spann.“Mine was clear in 2021. The cancer that I have is considered aggressive, and it developed within the past 12 months. So please, don’t put off getting a mammogram,” she said.
