Seven puppies less than 2 days old on Tuesday were found abandoned in a Walmart trash bag at the remote logging gate in the Mason County woods.
The puppies were rescued by a passerby after they heard faint cries for help. Found with their umbilical cords still attached, the puppies are now receiving around-the-clock neonatal care, according to the"We are deeply moved by the resilience of these puppies," HSMC Executive Director Katherine Johnson said in a statement.
"We are actively working towards raising awareness in our community so that situations like these don't occur. We want community members to understand that abandoning animals is never the answer. By providing education and resources, we hope to change mindsets and ensure that animals are given the care and love they deserve.”"We rely on the power of community," Johnson said.
