For one night, do your civic duty and at least entertain the possibility that you have a choice.

Former president Donald Trump waits to take the witness stand at New York's Supreme Court on Monday. I’d like to address all the clear-thinking Republican voters out there, many of whom have shared their thoughts over the years — sometimes in agreement, more often not. I come with an urgent plea. Before you completely resign yourselves to renominating a man about whose character and temperament you harbor misgivings , just give a serious listen to the alternatives. That’s all I ask.

The candidates in Miami will divide equally, more or less, into two basic categories. On one hand, you have what I would call the Trump imitators, Floria Gov. Ron DeSantis and fast-talker Vivek Ramaswamy, who are trying to convince you that they are just as culturally extreme andPersonally, I don’t find either one especially persuasive. DeSantis is one of whiniest debaters I’ve ever heard, and Ramaswamy sounds like a sleazy preacher from the Church of Nihilism.
