The effort was called "Reimagine Policing in Memphis." "We have to make it official, we have to make it documented, we have to put it on the books," said Crump. "Police officers, you have a duty to intervene when you see a crime being committed."" which stands for Street Crimes Operation to Restore Peace in Our Neighborhoods.
According to the city, the department was already in accordance with much of the "Eight Can't Wait" campaign, which campaigned for immediate police reforms to departments across the country.Those reforms included a ban on chokeholds, de-escalation policies, warning before shooting, exhausting all alternatives before shooting, and more.
