Andrew Glincher never expected to work in a big law firm, much less run one.
His path to the top of what is now Nixon Peabody LLP, a 1,500-employee firm, began in 1987. A friend convinced Mr. Glincher to take a $56,000-a-year job as an attorney at Peabody & Brown, a 60-person Boston law firm, to pay off his student-loan debt.
