The payments have been estimated to provide about $178 million to 400,000 qualifying residents, according to WUSA-9. A majority of the checks were reportedly processed in February and March.The New Mexico Human Services Department announced in June a new round of stimulus checks for residents who were ineligible for $1,400 federal direct payments, including undocumented migrants.
Under the $5 million state program, more than 4,000 low-income individuals will receive a check of up to $750, according to the HSD. The department has said it will prioritize delivering the one-time payment to applicants with the lowest income.
