A 21-year-old woman admitted to killing her best friend.
According to the Canadian news outlet, 18-year-old Brittney Gargol was found dead on the side of the road in Saskatoon, Canada, in March 2015. Her injuries, CBC News adds, were fatal and the result of strangulation. Her best friend, 21-year-old Cheyenne Rose Antoine, claimed that she and Brittney got into a fight on the night of Brittney’s death. She later admitted to killing her, although she still maintains that she does not remember strangling Brittney.
At the time of Brittney's death, Saskatoon police found a belt lying next to her body, which they believed to be the murder weapon. When browsing Facebook to piece together the timeline of the night, officials realized that Cheyenne was wearing that same belt in a selfie posted of the two girls — just hours before Brittney was killed. "It's quite remarkable how the police developed this information," prosecutor Robin Ritter told CBC News.
Although Cheyenne reportedly tried to mislead police at first, she later confessed to the crime. CBC News added that she will serve seven years in prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter.
