Former James Bond director Martin Campbell gives his insight on Aaron Taylor-Johnson's casting rumors as the next 007, believing it's not true.
James Bond director Martin Campbell, who helmed 1995's GoldenEye and 2006's Casino Royale, responds to Aaron Taylor-Johnson's rumored contention. There have been six actors to play James Bond throughout the character's six-decade run on the silver screen, the most recent of which was Daniel Craig. His run as 007 ended when his Bond was killed in No Time To Die, seemingly confirming that a reboot and new Bond actor would be coming down the pipeline.
"Let me tell you, [the casting rumors are] bulls*** mostly. 98 per cent of it is bulls***. It’s rubbish, honestly, it is. The new one is a real test of course because now we’ve lost Daniel who is probably the most influential in a funny way. I mean, obviously, Connery was, but certainly the most from a contemporary standpoint, Daniel made the biggest impression because so much changed for him. So I think they’ll be taking their time to assess who’s the next Bond and when they’d do the next one. Normally three years I think.
