AUSTIN–Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Tuesday outlined an agenda for his third term as governor.
Abbott says he wants the largest property tax increase in Texas history. He’s proposed using a portion of the state’s near $33 billion surplus to give residents property tax relief. Abbott added that “parents deserve the freedom to choose the education that’s best for their child.” But he didn’t elaborate on what a school choice plan would look like.In the first legislative session since last May’s massacre at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Abbott pleaded to make schools safer, including implementing mental health services for students.
