Danish toymakers LEGO built a life-size astronaut in recognition of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission. The effort took 30,000 bricks and more than 300 hours.

As millions around the world watched the first lunar landing attempt, the employees at NASA's mission control center in Houston held their breaths as they closely monitored the descent of the Apollo Lunar Module.

"Our final training run, we exercised those alarms," Kranz told ABC News Senior Transportation Correspondent David Kerley."I always go back and I think what we would have done if we had seen those for the first time." "I think many Americans sometime in their life have driven when the gas gauge in the car reached empty," Kranz said."That was the condition that we were on."

"Roger, Tranquility," CAPCOM said."We copy you on the ground. You've got a bunch of guys about to turn blue. We're breathing again. Thanks a lot.”
