To help close the neurogap, and increase productivity and well-being in the workplace, here are five easy things all managers can do.While there is no way to know the exact chemical makeup of each person’s brain, through awareness, observation, and thoughtful communication, you can begin to match employees with the tasks that best suit them.

Pay attention when you’re working with each person. You’ll naturally pick up on behavioral patterns that reflect their strengths, preferences, and roadblocks. For instance, think about what projects people consistently raise their hands for, which tasks they execute well, and what hours they like to work most.

The next step is optimizing performance by linking up team members to the right responsibilities. The same task that stimulates one team member may. People with serotonin-dominant neurosignatures, for instance, can persevere on a long, drawn-out task that requires extraordinary attention to detail. People with estrogen-dominant neurosignatures can be called on when diplomacy is paramount — they are empathetic, warm, sincere communicators.
