The Phoenix Suns forward scored 17 of his season-high 29 points in the first half of Tuesday’s 116-107 victory over Minnesota before a sellout crowd of 17,071 at Footprint Center.
The Suns played their second straight game without Deandre Ayton, who has been sidelined with a sprained left ankle suffered in Friday’s win against New Orleans. When the Suns opened the second half on a 15-5 run to take a 69-52 lead with 7:47 left in the third quarter, Bridges, Johnson and Booker all hit a 3 during the run.
Plus, Ayton would get a chance to get back at the Blazers after his huge missed free throw in overtime with 1.2 seconds left in Phoenix’s lone loss of the season. Ayton had 26 points, but Damian Lillard was talking to him before he missed that first free throw.Ayton missed the second one on purpose, Jock Landale got the rebound, but missed the putback at the buzzer that would’ve forced a second overtime. The fans chanted for one of their favorites when he checked into the game.
He had a mismatch with Johnson guarding him, but didn’t maximize it. The Suns smartly doubled him and he kicked the ball back out.
