Phoenix trailed by as many as 32 points in Wednesday's 126-97 loss at Denver in the second of a road back-to-back.
DENVER — Playing in mile-high altitude in the second game of a back-to-back, the Phoenix Suns didn't have it on Wednesday night.
The Suns remain without Deandre Ayton , Landry Shamet , Chris Paul , Cameron Payne , Devin Booker and Cam Johnson . Payne and Booker have re-evaluations scheduled later this month. Michael Porter Jr. can shoot it as well as anyone in the league. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has been a great addition with his defense and 3-point shooting. He went 4-of-5 on 3s Wednesday.Nuggets coach Michael Malone is excited, but he’s preaching defense.Must improve for Denver to really compete for a championship.Duane Washington Jr. felt it in the fourth quarter when Golden State dialed up the defensive intensity in defending him.
Malone continued to praise him, saying Washington Jr. is taking advantage of his opportunity as Paul and Payne are out.Washington Jr., who didn’t play in the Christmas game at Denver, was high on Malone’s scouting report of Phoenix. Turns out Washington Jr. had a fine predraft workout in Denver and impressed Malone.
