Six people were shot — one fatally ― in an incident that occurred about 2 a.m. Sunday, April 10, in the 800 block of Congdon Avenue, Elgin police said.
Five of the six people were found at the scene and taken to local hospitals, a news release said. A sixth drove themselves to the hospital.
One of the victims, an unidentified man, later died from his injuries, the release said. His name is being withheld and will be released by the Kane County Coroner’s Office pending an autopsy. No other details on the incident were released by police other than the shootings occurred at a “gathering at a residence.” It was said to be an isolated incident in the release.
An investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police department’s Major Investigations Division and Special Investigations Division at 847-289-2600. Tips can be texted to 847411, with “ELGINPD” included at the beginning of the message.
