For me, the biggest challenge has been in striking the right balance between laidback and polished, so that I’m dressed comfortably enough for an afternoon on my couch, while still looking presentable enough to meet with my colleagues atMonday When I packed a bag of belongings from my apartment in Brooklyn to bring to my family’s house in the suburbs, the first thing I grabbed was a handful of Comme Si. After a long winter of trousers and knee highs, it was time for my favorite colorful ankle socks to be seen, even if it was indoors and only for me to appreciate.
To start Monday off, I chose a bright orange pair, adding a much needed pop of color to what has become my usual neutral color palette. And although my colleagues wouldn’t be able to see on our video call, the act of putting them on alone brought me satisfaction. Plus they conveniently matched the vintage, mid-century chair I had been using at my desk. To top it off, I threw on a graphic sweater and a pair of wide-leg pull-ons complete with back pockets.
