Off-duty firefighter saves grandmother from drowning after truck crashes into Tremonton canal An off-duty firefighter in Utah jumped into action to rescue a grandmother who was in danger of drowning after her truck crashed into a canal.
Hansen described how, while it was still dark, her mother's truck ended up sideways, in a canal along a rural road. "I saw the vehicle was in the canal, so I stopped and jumped out. I asked if somebody was in the vehicle. The bystanders said yes, so I handed them my phone and jumped in," Munns said."I got in, all I could see was water, so I felt around, and I could tell there was a person there," he added. "They were wearing the seatbelt, so I cut it in two places with my pocketknife... When the adrenaline is going, time always slows down.
Hansen said her mom was airlifted to two different hospitals on Saturday after the incident, given the condition she was in.
