Chicago Bears coach Matt Eberflus didn’t have an immediate update on nickel Kyler Gordon's hand injury.
Gordon suffered a hand injury while blitzing late in the third quarter and didn’t return to the game. “What gives me confidence is I’ve seen him do it,” Johnson said of Blackwell. “I mean, shoot, he played against Aaron Rodgers and the Packers last year and he did a really good job. He’s definitely been out there in the fire. … He knows how it feels to be out there in a real game playing against some real competition. So I’m looking forward to him going out there, learning that chemistry with the ones and then playing ball.
“We always want him to look downfield,” Eberflus said. “Certainly, before he scrambles and runs, we want him to take a look downfield to see open receivers if they are. We’ve got to continue to work our scramble drill, which we work a lot on, because that’s where our explosive plays come from.”
