Here are four Juneteenth events to celebrate the holiday in the north Houston suburbs including parades, cultural arts festival and more.
Lone Star College-Houston North and the City of Houston will be hosting a Juneteenth Freedom Day Celebration from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 17. This event will feature free food, family fun, balloon artists, face painting and music. The event will be held at LSC-Houston North Victory, 4141 Victory Dr. in Houston.On Saturday, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner will be hosting the annual parade. The celebration will begin at Acres Homes Multi-Service Center at 6719 W. Montgomery.
The Acres Homes’ Juneteenth parade will be followed by the 3rd Annual Acres Home Juneteenth Cultural Arts Festival by the Acre Home Chamber. Guests will be able to enjoy a freedom awards ceremony, spoken word poetry, live musical performances, dance, food trucks, local vendors, bingo, games and arts and crafts. The celebration will take place at 6112 Wheatley St. in Houston.
