300 Black Africans feared drowned in latest boat tragedy Three boats from Senegal have been missing for over a week after heading towards the Canary Islands

AT LEAST 300 Africans are feared dead after a boat bound for Europe sank off the Canary Islands more than a week ago.Reports say migrants were likely to have come from Mali, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, and other Black African countries.

Reuters news agency quoted Helena Maleno of Walking Borders as saying that one of the boats has about 65 people on board, the other up to 60. That would bring the total number of people missing across the three boats to more than 300. News of the disaster has only just emerged just weeks after up to 600 migrants are believed to have died when their boat sank off the coast of Greece.
