Three suspected members of a neo-Nazi hate group were arrested Thursday ahead of a pro-gun rally in Richmond, Virginia, where the men reportedly discussed traveling with weapons, federal prosecutors said.
The FBI took the men into custody Thursday morning and they appeared before a federal judge in the afternoon in connection with firearms and alien-related charges, prosecutors said in a news release. They were identified as Brian Mark Lemley, Jr., 33; William Garfield Bilbrough IV, 19; and Patrik Jordan Mathews, 27.
But a judge ruled Thursday that Northam has the authority under state law to take action related to “the safety and welfare” of the state and that the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that the Second Amendment right to bear arms is not unlimited.Organizers of the Richmond event said thousands are expected to attend what was originally planned as"peaceful lobby day" but has since exploded into something larger.Story continues"They're not coming to peacefully protest.
Windom said the man discussed traveling to Ukraine to fight alongside"nationalists" and showed the judge a photograph of him participating in a military-style training camp with other members of The Base. According to criminal complaints, Lemley and Bilbrough face charges of transporting and harboring aliens and conspiring to do so. Lemley also faces charges of transporting a machine gun and disposing of a firearm and ammunition to an alien unlawfully present in the United States.
More than 100 counties, towns and cities say through the resolutions they will not enforce unconstitutional laws, but legal experts, including Virginia's attorney general, say those resolutions hold no legal weight.
