It’s been a rapid fall from grace for the Los Angeles Rams since their two NFC titles in four years that also included a victory in Super Bowl LVI. Just one year after hoisting the Lombardi Trophy, the Rams finished a dismal 5-12, leaving them third in the NFC West and far out of playoff contention.
The biggest problem the Rams face now is that their all-out pursuit for a championship has left them without the premium draft capital necessary to make important upgrades to their roster. In order to recoup some of their losses thanks to past trades, Los Angeles recentlyone of their own star players, cornerback Jalen Ramsey, for a third-round pick in the upcoming draft.
In 2022 alone, Forbes had six interceptions—tied for third in the FBS—and 11 passes defensed, including six career pick-sixes, the most in FBS history. He plays with great instincts and succeeds most when he can play in press situations to throw off opposing receivers. The aggressive mentality, ball skills, and production Forbes had in college would be invaluable to a team with a needy secondary like the Rams.
Football is in Kelly’s blood as the son of Super Bowl XXXVII champion and former Buccaneer Brian Kelly, who also led the league in interceptions in that 2002 championship season. He’s got the tools to succeed immediately as a press-man specialist and can reach his ceiling as a CB1 down the road for the Rams with some development at the NFL level.Stevenson is another aggressive, physical cornerback that is at his best playing in press coverage.
This past season was a good step forward in Stevenson’s ball production as well with two interceptions along with seven passes defensed, nearly twice as many as his previous career highs in 2021. The former Hurricane is also a willing run defender that can play downhill and forces his aggression and physicality on runners.
