The Florida Highway Patrol says the motorcyclist tried to pass a sedan on State Road A1A near Harbor Drive, when the sedan turned and crashed into the motorcycle.

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — A man is dead following a crash on State Road A1A Sunday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. At approximately 8:02 p.m. Sunday, a motorcycle was traveling east on SR A1A toward Harbor Drive. At the same time, a sedan was in the left turn lane heading east on SR A1A at the intersection of Harbor Drive, a traffic report says. When the sedan turned left onto Harbor Drive, its front left side crashed into the front end of the motorcycle, throwing the man from his vehicle.
The motorcycle came to a final stop in the road facing northwest. The 26-year-old driver of the motorcycle died, according to FHP. The driver of the sedan was not injured.
