For Dr. Ken Kitts, president of the University of North Alabama, 2022 has been a record-breaking year.
Kitts became president of UNA in March 2015, previously serving in academic and leadership positions in North and South Carolina. A graduate of the University of South Carolina and professor by training, Kitts also serves on the board for the Business Council of Alabama and Shoals Regional Council of Leadership Alabama.
We prioritize teamwork at UNA, and our recent success is attributable to a tremendous amount of hard work, cooperation, and mission-focused dedication by individuals across campus. Provost Ross Alexander and his staff have done a great job implementing our ‘smart growth’ enrollment plan that revolves around broadly-based recruiting strategies.
Q – UNA has also completed the move to Division I in athletics. How does that fit in with the university’s goals and why is it such an important step?We are the oldest four-year university in the state of Alabama. With 193 years of educational excellence under our belts, the time was right for us to use athletics as a platform to announce the University’s arrival as a destination of choice for students looking for a great school in a great location at a great price. We check all those boxes.
