Former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio is trailing his opponent in the race to be Fountain Hill's mayor. Fountain Hill is where Arpaio has lived for more than two decades.
This is Arpaio's third campaign for an elected position since his failed re-election campaign for Maricopa County Sheriff in 2016.in October 2021, is attempting to unseat two-term Mayor Ginny Dickey. The stakes for Arpaio in this election are smaller than when he served as the top law enforcement officer for Maricopa County. In this election, he is seeking the top leadership post in a community of about 24,000 on the edge of metro Phoenix.
