Cameron Hess, 26, turned himself in to the United States Marshal's office March 1 after a warrant was issued for his arrest in connection to the Jan. 6 Capitol riots.
Prosecutors say that the man circled in this photo is Cameron Hess, 26, of Cleona. They say Hess tried to gain access to the Capitol building at 3:24 p.m. Jan. 6, 2021, while capitol police tried to direct rioters back out the rotunda door. Hess is accused of assaulting and obstructing officers during the Capitol riots, in addition to more charges.
The Cleona man entered the United States Capitol Building through the east rotunda doors on Jan. 6, 2021 before riot police pushed him out of the building, according to a complaint filed by FBI investigators from Philadelphia. One photograph showed a man identified as Hess “assaulting police to regain access to the Capitol building,” the complaint said. Hess returned to the rotunda doors and tried to prevent police from closing them, before police pushed him out.
Additionally, photos showed Hess shielding his face from pepper spray bullets, and cell tower evidence placed his cell phone at the scene of the riot.
