A 2-year-old child has been hospitalized with serious burns after falling into a backyard fire pit Saturday afternoon in Haltom City, authorities said.

Haltom City firefighters were called about 4:15 p.m. to the 2300 block of Field Street, near U.S. Route 377 and Haltom Road, where the child had fallen into the pit.that the child had “serious burns” and was treated by first responders and then flown to Parkland Hospital. The child’s name has not been released.

Authorities are investigating the incident and no additional information about the child’s condition was available Sunday.. Maggie writes about breaking news, crime and weather.
