Courtesy/On SceneOne of the two men who were shot was approximately 35 years old and he was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died, Cmdr. Caroleta Johnson of the Houston Police Department told Metro Video Services. A man in his 50s also was shot in the hand and he was taken to a hospital where his condition was stabilized.
Police did not immediately release any information as to what led up to the shooting. However, authorities said one person had been detained in connection with the shooting. As of Monday, investigators had not announced his arrest or any charges. "We had several calls that came in through the dispatcher that provided descriptions of individuals, but all the descriptions were different," Johnson said."We did detain one individual, who we are not sure at this time his involvement in this particular scene, but he did loosely meet the description that was provided by one of the witnesses."
The man who was shot in his hand had been sleeping on the sidewalk when shots were fired and he told officers he did not see the shooter.
