Shortly after 2:30. a.m., a white Chevy Traverse was traveling at a high rate of speed north in the 1100 block of Cicero Avenue when it struck an Acura MDX in the rear and it went up in flames, police said.The driver of the Acura was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other driver was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.
Shortly before 5:30 p.m., officers responded to a crash in the 11500 block of South Racine Avenue where a Durango veered into a home and became engulfed in flames.Two people were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, and a male passenger in the Kia was taken to Roseland Community Hospital where he was listed in good condition, police said.
