In this file photo, people visit the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, Tuesday, July 19, 2022.Many locations across the San Francisco Bay Area saw measurable precipitation on Wednesday morning. The totals were small, but any rain that dampens the landscape is notable in July when the region is at high risk for wildfires.
National Weather Service forecaster Brayden Murdock said the marine layer was over 2,000 feet deep and spread into inland areas. It's typical for fog to roll into the Bay Area in the morning and evening during the summer months, and this July has been no exception. The persistent marine layer can bring heavy drizzle that wets sidewalks.

Other locations around the region thatrain include East Oakland and Half Moon Bay at 0.02 inch, Sausalito and Point Reyes at 0.03 and Bodega Bay at 0.05.
Downtown San Francisco has measured 0.07 inch of rain at the weather service gauge since July 1. July is climatologically the driest month of the year, the weather service said. San Francisco's 1991-2020 average July rainfall is 0.01, meaning this year we're seeing well above normal rainfall.
