At least 16 people were injured on Saturday after a collision involving a Maryland Transit Administration bus and two passenger vehicles, according to authorities.
The vehicles involved include a Lexus and a Nissan. The crash occurred in Baltimore's North Paca at West Mulberry Street around 10:20 a.m. local time, according to the Associated Press.Witnesses claim the Lexus ran a red light leading up to the crash, with the MTA bus continuing to roll into, and ultimately come to a rest inside of an apartment building located at 500 W Franklin St. Of the 16 people hurt, authorities say no-one suffered life-threatening injuries.
Baltimore Police advised drivers to avoid the area immediately following the crash. Residents of the damaged building were allowed to reenter Saturday afternoon, following an evaluation by the Baltimore Fire Department Collapse Unit.Last year, Maryland saw 28,084 injury crashes that injured over 40,000 people. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by both MTA and BPD.
