A total of 14 fire engines have been sent to two scenes in Accrington after fires broke out less than an hour apart.
The first fire, on East Crescent in Accrington broke out at 1pm in a domestic garage. Eight fire engines were sent to the scene. A second fire started at Peel Park, just a six minute drive from the initial location, at around 2pm, with six fire engines being sent to that scene. In a statement about the first fire, Lancashire Fire and Rescue said: "Eight fire engines from across the county were called to a domestic garage fire on East Crescent, Accrington. The fire spread to neighbouring terraced properties and due to cylinders being present, 15 homes have been evacuated. Two jets are being used to extinguish the fire and our drone team are also conducting flights in the area. One member of the public was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.
Regarding the second fire, Lancashire Fire and Rescue said: "Six fire engines and two Hagglund vehicles from across the county have been called to a fire in Peel Park in Accrington. Firefighters are using blowers and beaters to extinguish the fire which is 200 square metres. No injuries have been reported and the cause is under investigation."
