Discovery's 32nd Century has added new aliens to the Star Trek canon while updating the stories of many franchise favorites from Ferengi to Vulcans.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Star Trek: Discovery sent its crew into the 32nd century in season 3, introducing new aliens and updating the existing Star Trek canon. Captain Michael Burnham and the crew of the USS Discovery began rebuilding the Federation in the wake of a devastating and mysterious event known as the Burn. It was an epoch-shifting event that had wide-reaching ramifications for many of Star Trek's best loved alien species.
11 Changelings It's unclear what the status of the Dominion Founders is during Star Trek's 32nd century, but there's at least one Changeling that's still on the opposing side of Starfleet morality. Centuries after the Changeling alliance with the Borg Collective, Star Trek: Discovery revealed that some of them still exist on the margins of Federation society.
8 Trill The Trill got a radical upgrade in Star Trek: Discovery season 3 with a historic transplant procedure. Adira agreed to be the host for the Tal symbiont when its previous host, Gray Tal was killed. Adira was the first successful non-Trill species to be joined with a symbiont, a procedure which caused consternation on the species' home world.
6 Vulcans And Romulans Star Trek: Discovery made Spock's dream come true by unifying the Vulcan and Romulan people on their new world Ni'Var. Formerly Vulcan, the planet was renamed to better reflect its combined Vulcan and Romulan inhabitants. Like the Andorians, the former founder species had left the Federation in the wake of the Burn.
4 Orions Star Trek's Orions became the big bad in the 32nd century following the Burn. The intergalactic pirate race seized the opportunity provided by the lack of dilithium to seize control by establishing the Emerald Chain in partnership with the Andorians. Embracing a predatory capitalist ideology, the Emerald Chain was everything that the Federation opposed.
