With Marvel's Secret Invasion and the return of Nick Fury coming soon, there are some key MCU movies to watch before the series hits Disney+.
Marvel's Secret Invasion will be streaming soon on Disney+, featuring the return of Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury who's finally coming back to Earth in the face of a new extraterrestrial threat hidden from the public. Having been off-world for quite some time, it may be difficult to remember what Nick Fury's been up to since he was last seen in the MCU. Likewise, it's perhaps been even longer since the real Nick Fury was seen on Earth.
10 Thor 2011's Thor reveals Nick Fury's core mission in the MCU's Phase 1 involves the Tesseract. Revealed in Phase 2 to be the Space Stone, SHIELD began experiments on the Tesseract as a possible source of unlimited power . Likewise, the powerful Tesseract falling into the wrong hands is what leads to Nick Fury's role in the first Avengers, recruiting heroes to help save the world.
6 Avengers: Age of Ultron Reemerging to help the Avengers in their battle against Ultron, 2015's Age of Ultron saw Fury redeeming the memory of SHIELD, providing the original Helicarrier from the first Avengers as a rescue transport alongside former SHIELD agents who'd remained loyal . As such, Fury was a major source of backup during the Battle of Sokovia. He also helped Iron Man work through elements of his trauma and fear regarding his visions of the future with Thanos.
