Though Herning and Good American founder Emma Grede had known of each other for years, this season offered the chance to finally join forces. “That termis at Good American’s core, and we have such a like-minded ethos on how we are building our businesses,” said Herning. “For her to trust the platform and to believe in our customer meant a lot.
For Grede, the collaboration has been a “match made in heaven” that has allowed her brand to engage fully with the audience. “What I’ve learned over the last three years is that the plus-size segment has been so poorly served by the fashion industry that there is absolutely no choice but to actually meet her where she is,” says Grede. “Working with a retailer like 11 Honoré is a new thing for us, but it’s been wonderful.
Collaboration served as the night’s theme. It took a bevy of sponsors—Cadillac and Shopify among them—to bring the concept to life, and everyone from the models who walked to stars like’s Barbie Ferriera was eager to pitch in. “There’s a special energy that comes with women who understand that when we support one another we’re stronger,” said the night’s host, Tara Lynn. “It’s palpable in the warmth of greetings and the genuineness of conversation and permeates the atmosphere.
