A man is dead, and three others were injured in a shootout that occurred at Golden Gardens Park in Ballard over an alleged stolen car Thursday afternoon.
. The Seattle Fire Department confirmed that a 44-year-old man died as a result of the incident. SFD also said a 25-year-old man was shot and taken to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition.
"Right now, we have limited information. What we do know is that there are two separate scenes," said Lori Aagard with the SPD. "It's originating from one incident. It was not two incidents. It originated here and was possibly centered around a stolen car." Aagard noted the vehicle was allegedly stolen at a separate location, and ended up at the park. However, she was unsure if the incident was a case of someone attempting to recover their vehicle.SFD said crews treated two people there with gunshot wounds, one of which was a 50-year-old woman, and the other was a 38-year-old man. They both were taken to Harborview Medical Center, according to SFD.
KOMO News later learned from the SPD that the only shooting that occurred was at Golden Gardens Park. The aforementioned 50-year-old woman and 38-year-old man fled the park scene, ultimately stopping at 26th Avenue Northwest and Northwest Market Street.KOMO News' AIR4 chopper flew over the Market Street scene first and saw multiple officers and fire department paramedics tending to a person who had been shot.
Minutes later, AIR4 flew over the scene at Golden Gardens Park, where SPD officers and Emergency Medical Services were visible.
